Working principle of automobile water pump
The water pump bearing and impeller are driven by the pulley to rotate. The coolant in the water pump is driven by the impeller to rotate together. Under the action of centrifugal force, it is directed to the edge of the water pump housing, generating a certain pressure at the same time, and then flows out from the water outlet or water pipe.
As we all know, damage to the water pump will cause the engine temperature to rise abnormally, causing abnormal wear and tear of components. In severe cases, the entire engine may be scrapped.
Symptoms of damaged car water pump
1. Unstable idle speed
Since the car water pump is connected to the belt box to extract cold water from the water tank, if the rotation resistance of the water pump fails, it will cause the car’s speed to jump and become unstable after starting.2. Coolant leakageThe engine near the water pump is prone to water leakage. At this time, the coolant will leave water marks on the vent hole of the water pump. An engine lacking coolant will have a “high fever”. When the wear is severe, it will smoke or even catch fire.3. Make abnormal noisesIf there is obvious noise in the water pump, it means that it is damaged internally, such as the bearing is damaged or the impeller becomes loose during rotation and gradually separates from the rotating shaft, thus causing this phenomenon. Therefore, if the water pump is broken, it must be replaced in time to avoid causing greater losses.
